HPMAis an organic fatty acid polymer, with a general molecular weight of 400-800,and is easily soluble in water. The chemical stability and thermal stabilityare very high, and the decomposition temperature is above 330 ℃. Even at hightemperatures (350 ℃) and high pH values (8.3), there is a significant solutionlimit effect. This product has a certain degree of corrosiveness and can bebiodegraded. The degradation products are harmless to the environment.
HPMA as a scale and corrosioninhibitor in industrial cooling water systems, has excellent performance,especially its high temperature resistance. It can be used for a long time in amedium of 175 ℃ without affecting its scale inhibition effect, which is about50 ℃ higher than the use temperature of polyacrylic acid. This product has agood scale inhibition effect on carbonates and phosphates, with a scaleinhibition time of up to 100 hours and a scale inhibition rate of up to 98%.

HPMA isusually used together with organic phosphonate at dosage of 1-15ppm forcirculating cool water system, oilfield fill water, crude oil dewatering andlow-pressure boilers. HPMA hasgood scale inhibition (98%) and scale stripping properties. When used togetherwith zinc salts, it can effectively inhibit carbon steel corrosion.
